Thursday 20th October was a fun filled day for Pretoria Sunrise Rotary as we visited Kutumelo Molefe School – East of Pretoria which is one of the recipients of the club’s feeding scheme project.
The visit included a meet and greet session with the teachers, and our Club President Doreen Gough gave a brief overview of Rotary’s continued support and commitment towards the school in partnership with the KFC ‘Add Hope ‘Programme, which in its ongoing sponsorship has generously injected funds to the value of R113 000 shared amongst three schools.
Also at this fun event was Marketing Manager of KFC Suzanne Theunissen together with staff from their Hazeldean Branch. This was an eye opener for the staff as they got to see where the R2.00 contributions they ask from their customers ends up.
Other highlights of the morning included a mini cricket match between learners and KFC staff, cheered on by Titans Cricket Player Nicolien Janse Van Rensburg. The enthusiastic learners managed to out run and out bowl the visiting team.
It did not only end there, but talent was identified amongst the learners, and it’s with much joy that they are plans for the young girl identified to receive further training and development in the sport.
The School’s Principal Alfred Moemise also received a donation of soft toys on behalf of the Grade R learners, as well as mini cricket equipment for the school, there was also a KFC Meal treat for the teachers.
We as Rotary are once again grateful to KFC ‘Add Hope‘ and the people of South Africa who contribute R2.00 extra when they buy a meal from a KFC Franchise, this goes a long way in feeding the children.
